About us

What is AID?

Association for India's Development (AID) is voluntary, not-for-profit organization that supports a wide variety of developmental projects such as those contributing towards literacy, health care, access to credit, vocational skill training, women's empowerment and children's welfare. [Powerpoint presentation]

How and why did AID come into being?

AID was initiated in 1991 in the University of Maryland, College Park, by a group of students who shared the belief that India suffers from a variety of interrelated problems and that the solution to these problems requires active collaboration between us all.

About AID Blacksburg

AID Blacksburg was formed by the students of Virginia Tech in January 1998. It is a registered student organization at Virginia Tech. Though initially started as a small chapter, AID Blacksburg has now grown into a full-fledged active chapter.
